In April, human rights activists came together in Santiago, Chile to launch a feminist trade union platform, the first of its kind in the country.

Called Sindicalismo con Nosotras (in English, ‘syndicalism [trade unionism] is with us’), the platform unites ‘unions, guilds, and organisations from various fields’ with the intention of furthering equality within trade unions in Chile.

“[The platform] seeks to be a toolbox for workers [and gender minorities], so that they have greater empowerment and a stronger public voice against the bills and public policies that are emanating from the government,” Tamara Muñoz, a union leader and one of the platform’s founders, told RH Management.

The platform will also aim to educate women on trade unions. In a tweet from their official Twitter account (@ConNosotrasSi), Sindicalismo con Nosotras announced the development of a Feminist Union School.
